I can only say we couldn't be happier with our new UPVC windows. The installation team was super efficient, so a big thanks to them. We initially hoped to get wooden windows, but the price of replacing our old aluminium windows with new wooden double glazed windows was just too steep and did not offer the same security as UPVC windows. We don't regret our decision one bit. The UPVC windows not only look fabulous, they are super efficient and low maintenance!
I am just super happy I've found this site. I really dreaded doing anything at the house as I've had quite a few bad experiences with contractors. But this time over the whole process was smooth and painless. The contractor who supplied and installed our uPVC windows was a true professional. Thorough and always prepared to answer any of our questions. The work was carried out with great workmanship. Can only recommend him! And of course procompare!
The contractor installed a full set of 12 UPVC windows into our home in Sandton. Our 20 year old home had old single glazed glass in aluminium frames and the difference with the new frames is incredible. We hear much less noise and our home feels healthier. We can't thank Kofi and his team enough for their great work - the installation was incredibly fast, the team were very friendly, professional and very tidy - at the end of each installation day we barely knew the team had been here!
The best windows for hot and humid climates are ones that are energy efficient. Models that are improperly sealed can cause heat and humidity to seep in, resulting in a rise in temperature inside your home, which will cause your air conditioner to work twice as hard to keep you cool. It can also create moisture issues that can lead to the growth of dangerous substances, such as mold. When selecting the right windows for hot humid climates, start by looking at the type of frame and glass you will use. Wood frames might cost a little more, but they are also very efficient.
Most popular materials for window frames are wook, aluminium and PVC. They all have their own upsides and downsides: wood is a great natural insulator, but it require more maintenance, aluminium is sturdy and durable but at the same time more expensive, and PVC are low maintenance and affordable, but it has the biggest environmental impact. When choosing your window frames, you should ask yourself what your priorities are and choose accordingly.
Window frames have become better insulated and more durable during the last years, air seals are better, and gas-filled cavities between double and even triple panes are the norm. As long as you choose good quality windows, all PVC, aluminium and wood windows are a good option.
Modern uPVC windows have an average lifespan of only around 35 years. Since the average time of this material degrading at landfill is tens of thousands of years, make sure to properly recycle your windows once you replace them. You can do that by choosing an environmentally friendly company to replace and dispose of your windows
