When do I need a building permit in South Africa?
In South Africa, building applications for the construction of property and land use are highly regulated.
I am planning to build a double-storey building that will be divided into two. The top floor has to be more like a normal house plan i.e. 2 bedrooms, dining area, open plan kitchen and bathroom. On the ground floor, I want to put my shop, so it has to have a store layout. I have an idea of what I want I will discuss it further with the appointed Architect
The ultimate goal is to make this home more spacious. Much bigger room in the living room/dining room and kitchen - still keep them open plan. Outdoor entertainment space on the side of the house, possibly next to the living room. Additional space in the bedroom and if possible bathrooms as well. And the addition of a double garage.

We would like to remodel and extend a 3 bedroom house into a 5-6 bedroom double story home. Upstairs we would like to have 3 bedrooms, all with en-suites and two with walk-in closets and a balcony as well as an additional lounging area also with a balcony. I need plans for a house on 3 levels, bottom should be a double oversized garage with storage in the back and a large rumpus room to the right with a mudroom on this level. The middle floor is the kitchen, living, dining area. I want a butler’s pantry and a powder room and a large deck that will form a carport over the garage doors. Top floor I want 3 bedrooms and a study with ensuite and walk in robe to the main bedroom and a second bathroom.
