7 things to consider when building a carport
Before building a carport, you need to know what you want and what you can afford.
Available space : Length 4.5 meters Width 2.9 meters Height 2.2 meters Front end will be mounted against garage which has a roll up door. structure to be steel or wood which ever is cheaper with 4mm IBR roof
Something like a trapezoid. Hight 2,5m. Top width of 4m. Starting on the left side of this 4m width a 90 degree corner and go South for a length of 8,7m. To the right another width of 6,5m and back North to the other point of the 4m width a length of 5,3m. One attachment against a wall for the 90 degree corner and three poles at the remaining corners. It’s a carport type roof over a patio. Roof dimension is 6.5 m x 4.3 m, On the one 6.5m side it can be mounted on the wall and on the other side there are 3 brick/ concrete pillars of xmm . The frame to support the roof must be steel please. The covering must IBR sheeting, either galvanised or chromadek. Please quote on both types.

We need an Industrial Sliding Gate. 9m length x 2,2m height. Specification: mm x 50mm Rectangular Tubing. 50mm x 50mm vertical bars. mm spacing. Fitted with mm steel wheels. Spikes to be installed at the top of the gate. The gate must be painted with blue semi-gloss paint. A new gate will replace the existing gate. Please quote for the supply and the installation of D10 Centurion Motor with back-up battery.

I am not too fussy about the steal used (it needs to be galvanised), but if a car bumps it it should hold. (it is in the garage, so will be a soft bump) It is just the frame, no mesh or cover is needed. I have probably over-engineered the design, so happy to listen if you have a better approach. I think 20mm square or angle tubing will be plenty strong.
