What are the advantages and disadvantages of different types of security fences

I require a fence of about 4.5 meters in length plus a pedestrian gate. The height needs to be about 1 meter to 1.2 meters. I am not too sure about the kind of fence I need, I would need some advice on which kind would be best. The fence is required in order to keep my small dog away from an access gate. We have purchased a house in Century City and would like to have it painted inside before we move in at the end of October. We will need the walls, Ceiling, skirtings and doors painted. Ceiling and skirtings should be white. Doors Grey and walls off-white/grey. We need to still choose the paint colours . We require a quote from a reputable painter for this job.
