We would like to make use of a company to do our garden maintenance. For now we would like to use your services once but this could be a Fortnightly/Monthly service we could make use of. Currently we need someone to take out all the weeds in the lawn and around the area and do a general clean up and trimming of hedges/yuka's and to prune trees where needed. We have proteas in the back garden which do not like fertilizer so someone with fynbos experience would be very much appreciated. A visit this week would be very appreciated.

I have a cottage at Somerset Place Society Retirement Village. The garden is on a slope without anything pleasing to retain or terrace the slope (all sorts of left overs from precast walls, ancient and decaying railway sleepers, bits of concrete) have been used. It has two very old and woody Hibiscus plants, two Guava trees and some very spikey leaved plants and a couple of uninspiring woody succulents. There is absolutely no theme or layout to the garden. It's simply horrid. I would like to have paved areas and a pathway with steps to the levels of the garden. Evergreen shrubs/with flowers as focus plants. Once established, it should be as low maintenance as is possible. Herbs mixed in the garden planting would be welcome and plants to attract birds, butterflies and bees are most welcome. I have two dogs and a cat. The dogs are diggers!

We have a tiny garden around a bricked area in front of our townhouse. There are trees on either side and a couple of established shrubs, which means that the area doesn't get much sun. We'd like someone to tell us what will work, dig up some buried concrete, bring fresh soil, and do the planting. We have a number of pots that we can use for annuals, so what we're after is an established low-maintenance garden.

Project Overview This landscaping project aims to transform a fully paved -square-meter garden into a vibrant and inviting outdoor space. The design incorporates a lush lawn, large potted plants, a braai area, and various elements to enhance the garden’s overall aesthetic. 1. Lawn Garden Design Preparation: Remove a portion of the existing pavement to create space for the lawn. Ensure proper soil preparation and drainage to support healthy grass growth. Lawn Installation: Select a durable, low-maintenance grass variety suitable for the local climate. Lay sod or plant grass seeds to establish a lush green lawn. Edging: Install garden edging to define the lawn area and separate it from other garden elements. 2. Big Potted Plants Selection: Choose a variety of large, decorative pots that complement the garden's design. Opt for hardy plants that thrive in the local environment and require minimal maintenance. Placement: Arrange the potted plants strategically around the garden to create focal points and add height and dimension. Consider placing them near the lawn's edges, along pathways, or in corners. Plant Choices: Include a mix of flowering plants, shrubs, and small trees to add color, texture, and visual interest. 3. Braai Area Design Location: Identify a suitable location for the braai area that is easily accessible and provides a comfortable setting for social gatherings. Construction: Build a stylish and functional braai structure, ensuring it is safe and compliant with local regulations. Incorporate features such as a built-in grill, prep counters, and storage. Seating and Dining: Create a seating area around the braai with outdoor furniture that is durable and weather-resistant. Include a dining table and chairs for alfresco meals. Lighting: Install outdoor lighting to enhance the ambience and functionality of the braai area during evening use. 4. Beautifying the Garden Pathways: Create pathways using natural stone, gravel, or stepping stones to connect different garden areas. This adds structure and guides visitors through the space. Flower Beds: Design flower beds with a variety of plants that bloom in different seasons, ensuring year-round color and interest. Use mulch to retain soil moisture and reduce weed growth. Water Feature: Consider adding a small water feature, such as a fountain or pond, to create a calming atmosphere and attract wildlife. Decorative Elements: Incorporate garden art, sculptures, or decorative lighting to personalize the space and add unique touches. Conclusion This landscaping project aims to create a cohesive and inviting garden space that blends natural elements with functional design. By incorporating a lush lawn, large potted plants, a well-designed braai area, and various beautifying features, the garden will become a lively and enjoyable outdoor retreat.
