7 things to consider when building a carport
Before building a carport, you need to know what you want and what you can afford.
This job is to replace an existing wooden gate that has perished. Pictures are attached. Measurements of the gate itself are 79.5cm x cm to the frame. The frame needs to be replaced too. I would need the existing handle and lock need to be transferred onto the new gate and the whole gate and frame installed. The gate need not be identical to the existing one.
One 6,4 meter gate. More or less One 2.7 meter. More or less. The two gates must meet. The long gate must be in front of the garage doors. Then other gate can be pushed open . We have a caravan that must be able to pass through the small gate. The attachment between the two gates must be able to go down when taking out the caravan.
Already have a carport that is attached to the house. There are wooden pillars supporting it and the roof is covered with IBR Roof sheets. I need to cover the one side of the carport which is not attached to the house and also want something that can the back just to keep a bit of moist out because I stay at the coast.
I need a clear carport used with fibre glass or polycarbonate material…which ever is reasonable. But I’m also worried about the weather such as hail. What if it gets damaged? Is it also possible to do it with steel and polycarbonate? I need that space to have lighting hence I’m not fully opting for steel roofs. Please advise

Is it possible to come out and give us quote for our garden gates with electronic buzzer? I Will send you pictures as example. I have two gates there already but I think the sizing and lock is incorrect so I would rather like to just get new gates. Only I'm not available this week. We are looking to have a 6x6 carport installed. Loose standing. We are unsure of the type but it seems the shade nets are popular in mosselbay and not sure why so a recommendation could be provided. Obviously cost would be an issue and also time to install. Also do we need building plans approved>?
